I'll say it now: I am a big fan of technology.
I use it every day in my work, from the very beginning I included the wedding website among my services, as a useful and complementary tool to paper invitations.
I truly believe that digital participations can be practical, intelligent and perfect in many situations.
But... (yes, there is a but!)
I also believe that cannot entirely replace the beauty and symbolic value of a paper invitation.
Let's see in detail pros and cons, to help you make an informed choice.

The Pros of Digital Holdings
Let us start with the advantages, which are real and often very useful:
They are sent in a flash: Just a few clicks and the invitation goes everywhere, perfect for distant friends and relatives.
They are cheap: no printing or postage costs, if you hire a graphic designer you only pay the layout cost, but with a little patience you can create them yourself.
Ecological: no consumption of paper or physical materials.
Upgradable: if something changes at the last minute, you can correct everything without reprinting anything.
Perfect for support: for example for those who will not receive a paper invitation, but need all the information.
Limits (and missing emotions)
Despite all these advantages, there are aspects that only the paper invitation can offer, and I am not just talking about the sentimental part. There are practical, communicative and aesthetic values that a digital invitation simply cannot convey in the same way.
Clarity on who is invited. A digital invitation does not specify well whether it is addressed only to the person receiving it, to a couple, or to the whole family. A envelope with the name written, Instead, it speaks volumes and is a personal gesture.
It does not create the surprise effect. Opening a digital file or image is not like receiving an envelope, discovering the details, touching the paper, smelling the scent of something carefully made. It does not excite in the same way.
It may seem “low cost”. Even if the event is not, the digital invitation risks conveying the idea of something organised in a “cheap” way. And I am well aware that this is not the message you want to give!
A printed invitation is a memory. After marriage, many keep it as a small happy memory. The digital one... often ends up forgotten in emails or WhatsApp messages.

Digital Participations are a valid tool, especially as a complement.
But do not replace the magic, care and meaning that a paper invitation brings.
If you want to tell your wedding with style and attention to detail, it all starts from there: from an invitation that you can touch, admire, cherish.
